WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The U.S Postal Service admits hundreds of pieces of mail were mistakenly left unattended inside a Winter Haven post office.

On Sunday, a customer noticed five giant bins filled with letters and packages in the lobby, and there wasn’t a single worker in sight.

“It’s like a smorgasbord for a thief,” said Al Smith, who snapped some photos of the mail in disbelief.

Smith ended up calling the postal inspector who said they would contact a manager to get it taken care of, but then he said he returned about 45 minutes later to find the mail was still there in the open.

  1. How did they get there? Truck driver yes I know, but why in the lobby??
Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for!!

  2. The district manager, POM, and post master all should loose their job. There is no excuse for violating the sanity of the mail..

    • Are you kidding?!?!?!?! Now they will all move up the latter…you should see how fast they move up once they are gotten physical with employee(s)!!

  3. I see five wires of parcels and flat bundles.
Those wires are blocking access to those PO boxes. How would anyone retrieve their box mail?
Nice ceramic floor that is probably damaged from the weight of those wires. And moving those wires across same nice floor? Gauge and scratch!
Oh, and nice job of securing any parcels! (sarc)
Is this some PO dual processing facility?
