Video: Postal vehicle catches fire, mail destroyed in Tyler TXTYLER, TX (KLTV) – 1/05/16 – Folks in a Tyler neighborhood will be missing some mail Tuesday, after a mail truck caught fire.

The fire happened around noon in the 1800 block of Holly Lake Circle.

“When we arrived, the fire was fully involved and we extinguished the fire,” said Captain George Fletcher with the Tyler Fire Department,

Fire officials say the call came in at 12:20 p.m.

“I saw smoke out of the dining room window. I came outside and our mail carrier’s truck was on fire,” said resident Debbie Brewer.

Brewer has lived in the neighborhood for 11 years and says she knows her mail carrier well.

“This was a fill-in and he was standing in my yard he was quite nervous and upset. He threw out packages but he couldn’t save it all,” Brewer said.

Postal officials say the vehicle is a total loss. It was carrying about 2,000 pieces of mail and 90% of that was destroyed. Read more

  1. They still won’t hurry to get us new vehicles! !!! LLV so are probably the oldest vehicle on the road now. Surprisingly none of the green police and liberals are crying to rushing to take them off the road and get better and newer vehicles….like they wanted everyone else the public to do.

  2. Just keep the LLVs a few more years! How long are the limos used before they are changed? The LLVs have caught on fire several times the past few years. and what has management done, make sure the carriers scan every thing in sight! Just don’t worry about the truck fires>
