LIVERPOOL — Most knew when they signed up that the Postal Service delivers through rain, snow, sleet and hail, but as temperatures around Syracuse dip below zero Thursday, postal carriers were prepared.

In Liverpool, carrier Tom Dlugolenski says the key is having proper boots and gloves. In his 20 years, he says fleece gloves work best for him, and prefers insulated boots to rubber ones. He delivers mail door to door in the Liverpool area, and in spite of chilling temperatures, he says he’s still happy to interact with customers that depend on mail delivery.
