BELLWOOD, Ill. (WLS) –A west suburban woman is demanding a refund that she says adds up to about $50,000 in overpaid insurance deductions. The I-Team investigation may leave you examining your own paycheck.
At this point it’s unclear if anyone is responsible for refunding a retired post office worker, but she believes she overpaid tens of thousands of dollars and that she was over insured. She admits she should have better inspected her paycheck deductions, but still wants that money back.
These two brothers are in their 40s, but it was only a year ago that they were removed from their mother’s health insurance plan. The brothers never used the plan after they turned 21, and retired postal worker and west suburban Bellwood resident, Teresia Price, says she thought that the post office and the insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield, would automatically remove them at age 21. Both agencies say electing an annual health coverage plan was her responsibility and that she should have selected an individual plan when her children aged off.
“I did not notice because I trusted them doing the right thing and once I retired you get a check once a month and when money runs out you say, wow, something is not right here,” Price said.
Retired worker seeks $50K refund for insurance overpayment
She’s going to address that old pile of winning lottery tickets in her dresser drawer pretty soon, too.
Does anyone really think that a “for profit” company is going to tell you that “you are either paying too much”, or “we owe you a refund”?
Either pay attention to what is coming out of your paycheck, or just pay.
Sounds like she is dumber than dumb, and should be promoted at the least, to a supervisor position.
Probably still “rents” her landline telephone from the phone company.
I’m speechless….. How did this person ever pass the test to work for the PO in the first place??!!!
she also still pays the PMI on her mortgage of 20 years just because thats how she rolls.
If the brothers went to the DR,S or Hospital would they have been Covered? maybe they would hav caught then
will never confuse a postal worker with a doctor at the cleveland clinic!
can not fix stupid! postal workers not the sharpest tools in the shed. i am including po mismanagement and worker in that statement.
I have a father and a current employee. That requested to be moved off the family plan to single. He is still paying for a family plan. You tell me who is the idiot?
This story is about a woman who never changed her enrollment from family to single for over twenty years. That’s her problem and nobody else’s. So, to answer your question: she’s the idiot.
I Can’t address the claim that you have a father and a postal employee paying for family coverage who selected single. When your story gets media attention, I’ll comment then. I will go out on a limb and suggest that this father and postal employee of yours didn’t do the proper paperwork and/or did it wrong. Perhaps you can answer your question yourself.
What an idiot. This is her mistake and she in fact did NOT overpay for insurance. She paid for the plan she selected. She had an open enrollment period every year, and obviously never reviewed her selection. And how stupid is that media outlet for actually running this story? Trying to act all high and mighty with their “investigative report”. She is extremely fortunate they refunded the funds she paid since retirement, as these were the fees she agreed to pay by staying on a family plan. Looks like she will spend the rest if her life trying to get “her” money back, because there’s no chance in hell it’s going to be refunded!!
I suppose if she moves, she just thinks her mail will magically be forwarded to her new address, too!!
She is saying she is an idiot and needs supervision 24/7/365. She is also saying she wants paid for being an idiot. Maybe she can find a 6th grade student to take over her finances as she is not responsible.
Sure, she’s stoopid – but that doesn’t mean she should be taken advantage of. Nobody wants to be stupid! Insurance company benefited without providing any service.
