Santa’s sleigh didn’t make it in time for Christmas for some this year due to shipping problems at UPS and FedEx.
The delays were blamed on poor weather earlier this week in parts of the country as well as overloaded systems. The holiday shopping period this year was shorter than usual, more buying was done online and Americans’ tendency to wait until the last possible second to shop probably didn’t help either.
As a result, online retailers that guaranteed delivery before Christmas were unable in some cases to fulfill their promise. Amazon, Kohl’s, Groupon and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. were among those that left some customers out of luck, according to The Wall Street Journal.
I wonder why no mention of USPS contracting UPS to sort and transport NMOs in Des Moines and Chicago. Could this have contributed to the overload?
Their difficulties were do to massive volumn, their downfall is that the Postal Service couldn’t deliver all the packages handed off for the last mile delivery.
This is a major tragedy for Darrell Issa ! His lump of coal did not arrive on time!
All three companies have done a outstanding job this year. But management
is out of touch with the volume. Instead of adding routes they just prefer
to extend them. On line shopping is the trend and shipping companies need
to adjust that. Post Office does a great job too but Washington is out of
touch with street guys.
United States Postal Service is the best deal around!!Most people don’t know that the USPS delivers lots of packages for both UPS & FEDEX. Their trucks come several times a week to dump their packages for USPS to deliver. But they have to get them there to be delivered. So if they are paying the USPS to deliver their packages they have be charging a higher price than what the Post Office would. You don’t think they would be paying the P.O. to deliver their packages at a loss do you. Go USPS!!!
Darrel Issa should get a special Congressional Committee together to look into this. Perhaps UPS and FedEx should be made to pre-pay 75 years worth of their retiree’s health benefits to the government within the next 10 years, resort to a maximum of 5-day delivery, close and/or consolidate many of their processing facilities, and cut their workforce by 25-30%. Oh, and one more thing….UPS and FedEx should be forced to take PMG “Donut-hole” and his band of Postal Service mis-managers to run their operations for the next couple years (if they could last that long under the above-stated, restrictive conditions).
My 2-3 day priority package through the USPS took a week to get delivered, glad I ordered early….
All the more reason the above mentioned should take a more serious look at the postal service for there package delivery. Bad weather happens quite often so it’s hard to swallow that being the entire reason for delays. The postal service does a heck of a job with ontime delivery of packages and in most cases for a cheaper price. In current times with the economy struggling to find it’s legs and some companies just barely keeping their heads above water it makes sense to invest in a pilot program with the USPS to survey the delivery times of packages themselves. Could be the best move they ever make!
that what happens when you use UPS or Fedex . I used USPS had no problems whatsoever!!!!
good luck next year with that!
Funny, the post office is the only one to get the delivery on time and yet the so called liberal media makes no mention of it.
