Video: South Carolina mail carrier saves fallen woman who was outside for 3 days

dhallGREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -Debra Hall didn’t just deliver the mail to a home last week, the Greenville County U.S. Postal Service carrier saved a woman who had fallen and had been lying outside for almost three days.

It was Thursday when the letter carrier made the 911 call and the 78-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital. She’d fallen Tuesday at her home in the Westcliff community.

Hall said she saves every Christmas and Valentine’s Day card she gets from any customer she’s ever delivered to. Her husband, Chris, said it shows how much she cares, and he’s proud of how she went above and beyond on the job.

Postal service workers pound the pavement, no matter the weather, to deliver mail, but Hall knows there’s more to it. She said on any given day, she’s even helped elderly people carry their groceries.

When she heard a cry coming from the carport at the Berea home around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, she knew something wasn’t right. Hall found the woman, who had tripped on the rug in her carport, so she called the ambulance and delayed her route to wait with her.
