SUN VALLEY, Nev. — Getting snail mail might take a little longer especially for Sun Valley residents. Starting in October, they’ll have to look elsewhere to pick up their mail. Their only post office in the neighborhood is next on the chopping blocks and residents have until the end of September to save it.

Upset and confused, the pending closure of a local post office branch is leaving loyal customers with unanswered questions.

“To me it’s crazy, okay? I’m still shaking my head, no, no you’re not saving anything by closing this!” a local man said.

“We use this post office a lot and it’s hard. There are a lot of retired people, if you look at the age of the people coming into the post office, I mean, most of them are seniors,” another Sun Valley resident said.

Currently, residents have to travel an extra eight miles to get special deliveries, but with the post office closing, it would make it even more difficult for seniors and those with limited transportation to get a hold of their mail.

“We already feel like we’re driving here to Los Angeles just to get out of Sun Valley,” a local woman said.
