Davis police alert residents of mailbox break-ins

Thieves have been targeting cluster boxes in Davis, using a crow bar to pry them open. Once they’re in, they have access to not just one box, but to all of the mail of people living in the neighborhood.
The Davis Police Department and the United States Postal Inspector Service are alerting Davis residents of an increase in community mailbox break-ins. Over the last couple of weeks, several community mailboxes have been vandalized or broken into, which may have led to mail theft. This issue is not isolated to Davis and is a regional issue.
