June 20, 2015 DENVER, N.C. — A 43-year-old female mail carrier died Saturday afternoon in Denver when a large tree fell on her United State Postal Service vehicle and pinned her inside.
The incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. as the mail carrier delivered mail on Norman Court off Lakeshore Road North. A thunderstorm was moving through the area at the time of the incident.
The tree was at the home of U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry, who was out of state visiting relatives when neighbors contacted him about this “tragic accident.”
The mail carrier, 43-year-old Lisa Rudisill Wilkerson, of Sherill’s Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
