USPS issue with customer’s priority flat rate envelope
“When sealing a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope, the container flaps must be able to close within the normal folds. Tape may be applied to the flaps and seams to reinforce the container; provided the design of the container is not enlarged by opening the sides and the container is not reconstructed in any way.”

As a retail clerk, I questioned this and even sent an email to USPS.com asking for clarification. The answer I received was as long as it fit ans the fold closed on the seam, it was within the requirements of the flat rate envelope.
sooooooo retail in washington DC….. What is the answer???
She is using a legal flat rate envelope, meaning legal size paperwork and or documents. It does not mean legal size fabric as she is mailing.
The usps has padded flat rate envelopes which will suit her needs just fine at $6.10.
As a window clerk I saw that sh-t all the time. It is an envelope, not a package for anything other than paper documents. BUT, it is the fault of the post office. You CANNOT be all things to all people.
She’s absolutely right. Don’t understand why they’re giving her problems. Hopefully this video will by passed on to all offices.
As the commercial says, “If it fits.. it ships”.

These envelopes are designed to run through the Flats Sorter machines not the APPS machines. The USPS should print the size restrictions (all 3 dimensions) on the envelopes. That would eliminate all the confusion.
Amazon would never be treated this way. The USPS always screwing small business.
the customer is always right?
OMG………… This again is a company screwing over the Post Office… IT’s an ENVELOPE….IT wan’t designed for Packages. Just because you can cram something into it doesn’t mean you can pay the cheaper rate. Just because you got away with it before doesn’t mean sooner or later you will get caught. A Priority Envelope is for documents, not packages. I hope they return it.
