MILL CREEK, Wash. – It’s a mail thief’s dream, stealing a Postal Service master key to all the mailboxes and blue collection bins in two zip codes.

On Tuesday, a mail carrier says a group of thieves started a conversation with her and distracted her long enough to grab her master key.  It happened in Mill Creek in the 98021 and 98012 zip codes.

Mill Creek’s Craig Peterson has had a rough few years.

“I’ve had five times my identity stolen in the last three or four years,” said Peterson.

He says mailbox thieves are to blame.

  1. One question needing to be answered is postal employees closest to these thefts, mailbox issues and key thefts prompts a real concern. Are the wrong people being hired and in many of these cases, yes. So many of the new hires never would’ve qualified or gotten their names on the register. Now its a revolving door, CCA’s, and not all of them. If you can’t qualify to be issued a uniform your hands must not touch any mail. Cheap labor and this is the results of it. Sad, Sad, Sad and congress is also the leader in this fight.
