QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -Many Quincy residents noticed their mail was delivered much later than normal on Tuesday, but U.S. Postal Service Officials say that won’t continue.
United States Postal Service spokesperson Valerie Welsch said some residents did receive deliveries as late as 8 p.m. Tuesday night, but only because it was the day after a holiday.
“That was not a normal occurrence,” Welsch said. “The day after a holiday is always a very heavy mail day, so carriers are usually out later than usual.”
Welsch said truck arrival times were off that day, putting carriers behind. She said the USPS is making a lot of changes to the network that are causing truck arrival times to fluctuate.
Mail carrier Tina Philllips said the late deliveries were not just because of the holiday, and she said it’s been a trend for a while now.
USPS: Late Quincy mail delivery ‘not a normal occurrence’
Go slow=more dough!
Valerie Welsch is located in my office. And yes, she is nothing more than a puppet on a string. She makes good money at lying to our customers and making excuses for the broken-down USPS and all the problems that are evident. She is just another overpaid do-nothing upper management trash.
Lets see! who do I believe? A lying spokesman or carrier living THE dream?? I’d bet on the carrier or clerk any day of the week!! Hears an idea: All craft employees get OFF the Over time desired list for the last week of every quarter..Then sit back and watch the cluster-uck
You all doing a great job under tough circumstances. Donohoe has to go. Their numbers don’t add up exceot if they are trying to destroy good service to the people of America.
Bkizzle your a complete idiot. …..respectfully decline! I haven’t been on an ODL list for 20 years and im a city carrier 28 years!!!!! There’s not enough carriers to do the routes and its getting worse….CCA’s constantly quit and like I said I have a worthless weak excuse of a local union that lets management continue to go on like this. …TRUST ME Bkizzle KARMA is coming your way. ..
I’m glad someone told the public that the carriers are out late. I would be really worried hearing someone on my porch after dark. I feel for the carriers and I can’t imagine doing it when the weather is bad and is dark. Thanks to the carrier who helped infirm the area.
I was out till 9:45pm on Tuesday longest day during my time on the job.
I’m here in north Jersey and mail does get delivered as late as 10pm. As a customer, I wouldn’t want anyone on my property at that time.
What ever happen to the National color code policy???? Standard mail gets same treatment as First class at double time. Great upper management decision. That will bring down the deficit. Legal Corruption at it’s best.
Could we be catering to the BULK MAILERS??????????
Lateness the new normal ———–get used to it America —–oh and dont forget to say thank you to the postal regulatory Commission.
6:00a.m. Starts……it’ll fix everything
Typical mgmt. in two ways.
1. Lying. Surprise.
2. Notice they have some overpaid, underworked, unnecessary “spokesman” answer questions. Not anyone from the actual office involved.
Postal mgmt = liars and thieves, at all levels.
Doesn’t work that way Bkizzle, and if you’ve been a carrier for any length of time, you’d know it.
Mgmt. could care less about an odl, just like any other part of the contract. Sure, grieve it.
Months later, it’s settled, but in the meantime ? ODL carriers are forced to work OT and their sdo.
It’s been happening for years, and still does, nationwide.
Like I said, you should know this…………..if………….
Once again, postal officials caught lying to the public.
Bkizzle you are an asshole, but kind right at the same time.
Or….. You could just “respectfully decline” and stay of the ODL list and at 4:00pm hit that time clock like a $200 whore….. Grow a pair people!!!
I’m a letter carrier in Newport News Virginia and I’ve been out delivering as last as 9:30 pm. The postmaster he4e refuses to staff his workforce which means carriers have to double up and carry their own routes and as much as half of other routes……its ridiculous and pitiful on managements part…..so don’t believe that postal spokesperson when they say it only happens a day after a holiday. …it happens all the time now…..carriers are worn out because of it….and a local union that’s doing absolutely nothing about it!
