  1. I put my time in… Now give me my Saturday’s off!!! This place is going down the tube regardless . Why not go out in first class?? I hear guys crying daily about the future of the usps. Until they cut/slash and whatever else they want to sneak in, mandatory pivots ….thats the future!!! O.T or not, I’m tired!! I’m headed down the shore!!!! Am I truly the only carrier that wants weekends?? Lmao!!

  2. in my office we have about 100 city rts and about 20 rural rts. and in july of 2012 on a saturday a day that falls in primetime and a day that most sick calls occur we had 2 supervisors come to work that day and all the rts got delivered with minimal penalty paid out…..on monday when i came to work i had 9 supervisors and a late night supervisor and the mail got delivered the same way as saturday….you want to save money ? do we really need 10 supervisors in 1 office !!!!! oh and according to the pmg we are understaffed in management and he said that after he said we are going to 5 day delivery so we will have 1 less day to deliver but we will be getting more supervisors…..under this type of leadership i am practicing for my future walmart greater job….

  3. I agree with the 5 days. It’s about time that we move on and quit doing things the way we used to do them. We need to evolve as a company and quit living in the past. I’m excited that we are going to 5 days and I will continue to hope that our company continues to search for new ideas to help us grow.

  4. It’s about time we get with the 21st century. If UPS can do it by having part time people work on Saturday so can the USPS. 5 day all the way! Almost every full time postal employee I have talked to wants to go to 5 day service so they can be with family on weekends. Only those living on overtime want to keep Saturday delivery. So, get your finances in order. LEARN TO LIVE ON A 80 hr paycheck!

  5. Per the Chicago times: Congress is allowing the USPS to hemorrage to death. Unleash the Postal Service to innovate and compete. Find out if the Postal Service or other carriers can serve customers better.
Otherwise this will not be the last SOS from USPS.
Some Americans will miss their Saturday mail. But many will shrug because most of their mail already comes electronically. Most won t mind waiting awhile longer for their daily dose of bills.
The red ink will keep gushing out of postage meters unless postal officials swiftly transform their business to compete in the 21st century. Congress, are you listening?

  6. Under this street management program we are on they follow us every day in a F250 Diesel Truck. And they just told us that one day a week the postmaster is going to follow the superviser thats following us. If they stoop to this level we are going to call the local newspaper to come take a picture. We already have 12 scans and are questioned about any segment we go over everyday.

  7. Hey city 4 your post master makes that to answer the phone? Ours makes alot more then that just to push around post cons and work the three m case. Totally agreed he can take off and the office wont miss a beat. 204 b can go to. The post office is nothing but a bank roll for management. Too many do nothing and never handle a pc of mail ( except for 3 m case) managers , that are bleeding this place dry.

  8. From your supervisor up to district manager needs deep cut’s.
If everybody above my supervisor to the Arkansas district manager took a month off. Nobody would notice the mail would be delivered just like it is now. The only difference would be thousands of idiotic reports would not be done. And everybodys blood pressure would lower. Stop paying a postmaster 80k per year to answer the phone and follow a different carrier everyday in a big diesel truck.
The money wasted on management is incredible

  9. The Postal Service just announced that we lost $1.3 Billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year. $1.4 Billion of that was due to the retiree health benefits pre-funding mandated by congress. So, that means we posted a $100 Million in operations. Without the pre-funding, the Postal Service is operating at a profit, and that is before the rate increase took place. The Postmaster General has been spouting this trash for the last few years. Never do you hear him speak about the need to stop the pre-funding, only “five day delivery”. He is like a broken record. He needs to resign, or be fired! The Postal Service is not in as much trouble as he makes it sound. Between this PMG, and a do-nothing Congress, they are killing a national institution.

  10. The sunday delivary is being done to accomidate Amazon. Our office has recieved new cell phones to update data via blue tooth. It is paired with your scanner. Dont be fooled. It is also a method of management to track you.they are being sent to classes to learn how to track you based on the new phone system. But it was started because Amazom wants instant info on their packages. Management is jumping on as a way to track and harass us more.

  11. We the letter carrier are the eyes and ears of the rediculous ongoings in our stations, Yes it is true the USPSneeds some restraints lifted off of them by congress, but its managment should get rid of much unneeded supervision,(a 204b) everyhere. put employees back on their assignments, and cut out so called bullshit unessecary work, causing us to have to cover vacant routes at overtime pay. Yesterday,2/9/13, i had 8 ft. of mail.Under the new 5 day schedule add Mondays mail volume to it and we will be working 12-13 hour mondays, just like we do on a day off after a holiday. So tell me again how we are going to save 2 billion dollars?

  12. If they don’t hire enough CCA’s, then it would be left to OTDL’s and maybe mandating non-ODTL’s, which would cost far more with overtime rates combined with an 8 hour guarantee. I don’t even want to try to guess where this mess is going.

  13. As with most if not all management ideas this is fraught with problems, will the person who is delivering the package check to see if there is a vacation or other hold (PO Box, Dog issue) on this house, is the address vacant?, has this person moved. Numerous times (at least at my station) especially during Christmas, parcels have been left at houses of people on vacation sometimes for weeks and have been damaged during bad weather. Ultimately management will expect the regular carrier to fix all of the problems due to the new programs they put forth without thinking them through.

  14. Dont know about delivery on the city routes but on the rural routes keep the present releif person & let them deliver the packages on sat & if Sunday. They know the routes 7 would be familiar with hold mail & such & that would cut down on mis deliveries as to where a person not familiar with the route would probaly cut down this.

  15. Postal management considers their career employees and Unions as the problem. Stopping Saturday delivery is only the first step, next will be 4 day deliver or less for letter and magazine delivery. Delivering the mail will then only be part time work (less than 40 hours a week). There will no longer be a need for a career work force. Removing checks and bills from the mail stream will leave primarily junk mail and postal supervisors have always said they want their mail delivered Tuesday-Thursday. Part time circular delivery in the middle of the week, possibly 7 day parcel delivery with combination part-time full-time carriers and part time carriers. They couldn’t move the work to Mexico to get rid of career carriers so just remove the need for career carriers. This might not be the perfect way it will go but rest assured upper Postal management will do anything to weaken or destroy the unions. In my opinion the Postal Unions need to start stressing how many veterans are in the Post Office because of Veterans Preference and stress how management actions will affect these Veterans

  16. This isn’t anything new. They’ve been planning for at least a year. Because of the critical nature of some packages as well as it being our only area of growth right now they’ve been planning on having a part-time work force deliver on Saturday and Sundays. I believe they’ve actually been testing it in a couple markets already. If memory serves, San Diego comes to mind.

  17. Just curious, who is going to deliver on Sunday’s, CCA’s? Is opening up a totally new day for delivery part of the effort to save money? My guess is there will be a premium fee if you want it on Sunday but they possibly won’t tell the public that yet. You know, so they can get them behind the idea of no mail on Saturday as long as they can get packages all days of the week. I hope the CCA’s are better than TE’s at delivering to the right house!!!
