WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) – Family of a man murdered last year in Warwick held a vigil in his memory Saturday night near the scene of the crime.

The body of 66 year-old John “Jack” Fay was found in a barrel at Warwick’s City Park on May 17, 2013. Fay was a retired postal worker and avid runner, and police believe he was killed while jogging on one of the park’s bike paths through the woods. There were signs of a struggle and Fay died of blunt-force trauma.

Loved ones tell us they chose the park not because the crime took place their, but because the park was so important to him. Jack was known as an avid runner, and those close to him described him as quiet, upstanding, and fundamentally good.

However, police have few leads. This January, investigators released photos of a distinctive sledgehammer that was found near the scene but police have not said whether or not they believe it was the murder weapon.
