Videos: Filipino residents in Carson CA cry foul over alleged mail dumping

August 4, 2015 CALIFORNIA – Some Filipinos are angry because they believe their postal carrier has been throwing away their mail.

According to residents of Carson Apartment Complex, the US Postal Service has treated their dumpster as the new mailbox.

They claimed they caught a mail carrier in the act of dumping their mail intended for delivery last week.

When residents, including Filipino Paul San Nicolas, took a closer look they found mail from neighboring streets, among them important private documents and packages meant for the many Filipino families in the neighborhood.

Some mail even contained prescription medicine and time sensitive immigration documents.

“We look into the bin we see there’s parcels, INS documents in envelopes, credit cards, all kind of financial information, private information of our residents behind us here,” said San Nicolas.

When they tried to bring some of the letters and complain at the local post office, San Nicolas claimed they were threatened with arrests for confronting the suspected postal worker and also for having mail, considered federal property, in their possession.

  1. We help them got rid of the bills and cut down overtime on our end. Win win all around.

  2. This is a new twist. Responsible citizens justifiably outraged at finding dumped mail that has a lot of important stuff in it take it to management and the suspected carrier, and are bullied and threatened for being in possession of government property. Maybe it was a U.S. Postal Service dumpster.
We’ve had a couple dumping incidents in our moderate sized office over time; most were fired but one was let off the hook because she runs like a rabid rabbit. I suspect there are a lot of carriers out there pulling this shit on a regular basis, knowing management is too incompetent or lazy to bother investigating or observing them.
Yes, we can blame management, but we can also blame letter carriers who do this shit. We were supposed to be above this kind of behavior, but with the massive influx of CCA’s and a workforce with a prevalent attitude of thinking their company they work for owes them something beyond pay and benefits, and one that doesn’t understand the mentality of doing the best they can if they agree to do the work, it will happen a lot more. Call me a dinosaur, but I have always felt that I’d do my best whether it was fifty cents or fifty bucks and hour. Naturally, that has conditions attached, such as a fair day’s work and not allowing management to make you do much more than some slacker who does half the job you do and gets paid overtime for it.
But I don’t know – people are just so selfish and self absorbed any more that no matter how reprehensible some of them act, they can not accept responsibility for anything. This carrier should, like all dumpers, be fired at once. I hate circulars and marriage mail as much as anybody, and I’ve been lugging that crap for 30 years in every kind of weather imaginable. So if I can do it, so can anybody else. The Service doesn’t need carriers like these, or management that ignores it.

  3. Mr. Nicolas, if you read this message or someone you know reads this message, take the mail to the office of your congressman and tell them what happened. Not only should the carrier be fired, but the person who threatened you should be fired as well!
