A former Petersburg postal carrier, who was convicted earlier this year of dumping mail, was sentenced Thursday to 10 weekends in jail and 18 months of probation for discarding another 32 tubs’ worth.
Ryan L. Hooker, 36, was sentenced by a fed-up U.S. Magistrate Judge David J. Novak, who had sentenced Hooker in February to six months of probation after a car dealer in West Virginia found 1,319 pieces of mail Hooker was to supposed to deliver in the trunk of a vehicle repossessed in Petersburg.
The mail contained items such as checks, Social Security cards, letters from the Department of Veterans Affairs and election ballot envelopes.
wow, the postal circus sure can pick the cream of the crop. at our plant, the new hires look and act like they just came out of jail work release and can only speak 50 words of English.they spend more time on their cell phones then they do work. does this surprise me, not in the least? how low can they go is the real question. believe me, they will go so low they will pop out in China. the end is near.
Yes he’s wrong, don’t defend his actions, but I’m sure there’s a deeper, systematic problem at his post office that needs attemtion. I speak ad a 33 year employee, and know how mismanaged many stations are.
Hopefully he was fired this time. He should have been fired the first time and not given a second chance. He apparently didn’t learn his lesson the first time.
