Out of more than 400 third-party carriers, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has recognized USPS as part of its annual “Transportation Carrier of the Year” honors.
The Postal Service was singled out for its innovation in delivering for one of the country’s largest retailers. Wal-Mart awards the designation each year to companies that provide support to the retailer’s stores, its Sam’s Club outlets and its distribution facilities located throughout the U.S.
Each week, Wal-Mart serves more than 200 million customers and members at 10,300 stores under 69 banners in 27 countries and e-commerce websites in 10 countries.
In a statement about the award, USPS expressed appreciation. “The U.S. Postal Service appreciates Wal-Mart recognizing our service with their Innovation, Carrier of the Year award,” the statement said. “This recognition speaks directly to the dedication and commitment exhibited by our employees nationwide, and the Postal Service is proud of their accomplishments.”
