West Virginia PMR sentenced for theft of postal funds

West Virginia PMR sentenced for theft of postal fundsMARTINSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh has sentenced a Bunker Hill, W.Va., Postmaster Relief to three years of probation and fined her $500 in connection with the theft of more than $2,000 from the post office

Brenda Carmody, 49, was sentenced to three years of probation and a $500.00 fine after she stole more than $2,000.00 while employed at the Rippon, West Virginia Post Office.

Carmody pled guilty to one count of “Misappropriation of Postal Funds” in July 2014 after a United States Postal Inspection Service investigation revealed that she stole monies from a cash drawer and post office box rental fees totaling $2,031.91.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Perri prosecuted Carmody and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Cogar prosecuted Roberts on behalf of the government.
