Through the opportunity to work with Jay Galione, and Sheila Dvorak for a little more than a five-minutes on their project, I must proclaim that they are the lead activists of a very professional production team bringing much needed light to a business culture where working conditions can be rewarding, and at the same time degrading. Unfortunately, and in many cases, achieving “high numbers” takes precedence over respect for the people who actually administrate, process, deliver, and use the mail resulting in a hostile environment on the merits.
As an employee of the postal service, I have personally endured some of the most disrespectful conduct condoned by, and from leaders who in any other professionally run organization would cause those managers to be removed, or replaced for “loss of confidence in ability to lead.” The type of conduct you will hear about in the film is often swept under the rug. But, what you will also see, are many brave workers who will inspire the masses to “help those leaders, and issues, get the attention they strongly deserve.” One big difficulty inside USPS is not enough employees are willing to speak up, or out, about disruptive organizational behaviors due to fantasized experiences appearing real (FEAR). The fear of negative ramifications overrides the imagination before the complaint can be properly formulated. Instead concerns are quietly discussed in the dugouts where solutions cannot be implemented, and blame metastasizes in the same trenches allowing the highest paid to remain unaccountable to the conditions of our employment by staying out-of-the loop.
Postal employees are smart. It takes a lot of hard work to get hired into the “We Deliver” agency, remember that? What happens after we are matriculated into USPS culture? Outsiders will never understand this place, until now. Each of us continually hears positive and negative stories experienced every day. Gone Postal- The Documentary is the postal TRUTH. I highly encourage everyone to support this documentary. If every reader, and or household securely donated $1 to the completion of the film, the producers would exceed their goals, and our United States Postal Service story would get the attention Ben Franklin would be proud of. If you are afraid about using a credit card online, buy a gift card and donate that way. Jay and Sheila made the task so easy, and you will get back rewards for your tax-deductible contribution.
I got a feeling we will all be saying, “That was the best documentary I have ever seen. Why? Because you are going to learn something! ”The trailer doesn’t even scratch the surface, but the feature will run deep. This is a documentary that needs to go Viral. Our society would prefer to focus on silliness as entertainment rather, than concentrate on necessary positive change promoted in this documentary. I can assure you this story impacts craft, management, unions, families, and the American public. Please support the cause, and let’s get our story told the way it needs to be heard on the big screen. For REAL!
