(November 12, 2014) WASHINGTON – Today, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee approved nomination to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Board of Governors. The nominee were ordered reported favorably en bloc by vote.
Mickey Barnett is the nominee to be a Governor of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors. Mr. Barnett was first appointed to the USPS Board of Governors in 2006 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.
“Mickey Barnett’s nomination comes at a very challenging time for the Postal Service,” said Chairman Carper, “but in adversity lies opportunity. Mr. Barnett knows that Americans want a Postal Service they can rely on, one that will take full advantage of the countless opportunities that lie ahead. I am confident that, if confirmed, Mr. Barnett will continue to work diligently with the other members of the Board as they work towards a brighter future for the Postal Service. Congress holds the keys to the Postal Service’s future, but the Board of Governors serve a vital role in setting the direction of this large organization – I urge my colleagues in the full Senate to support Mr. Barnett’s continued service on the Board.”
Barnett’s nomination now moves to the Senate floor.
