BERKELEY, CA — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed relocation of the Berkeley Post Office on 2000 Allston Way Berkeley, CA 94704. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Berkeley Council Chambers, 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Berkeley.
The public meeting is being held to explain the relocation proposal and hear comments from customers. If the move is approved, there would be no reduction in service to the residents and businesses of Berkeley, or any impact on letter carrier delivery. If the move is approved, the ZIP Code will remain the same, and our goal is to retain all PO Box numbers.

As a result of a 26 percent drop in total mail volume over the past three years brought about by the diversion to electronic communications and business transactions, the USPS must realign its infrastructure. The Postal Service continues to be in a very serious financial situation and is facing insolvency. Every opportunity to reduce expenses and generate revenue is being considered in order to remain viable and to continue to maintain universal service to our customers. If this relocation is approved, USPS anticipates selling the current Berkeley Post Office building.
