With the holidays in full swing, the Postal Service is delivering more cards, letters, and packages every day. This means our customers will start to see postal employees delivering packages earlier in the morning, later in the evening, and on Sundays.
“The Postal Service is well prepared to meet our customers’ needs during the holiday season,” says Detroit District Manager Lee Thompson. “We ask customers that are expecting a package to please turn on their porch light so our letter carriers can deliver safely.”
With an increase in early and online shopping for gifts, there is no longer a “busiest day” for holiday shipping. Instead, the Postal Service predicts the week of Dec. 18 – 24 to be the busiest mailing, shipping, and delivery week. During this week, nearly 3 billion pieces of First Class Mail, including greeting cards, will be processed and delivered. The Postal Service is projecting about 15 billion pieces of mail, including more than 850 million packages, will be delivered between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve.

- Dec. 16 – First Class Packages (up to 15.99 ounces)

Dear Su Me, How come UPS and FDX aren’t required to pre fund their health care costs? If you think so much of UPS or FDX why not work there? At least at FDX you would have a union free work place!

Oh, they’re doing just wonderful! I have had three important letters not arrive at their destinations, one day last week no service whatsoever, including my outgoing mail, and today, even after complaining and getting assurances from the rural supervisor they were “addressing” the situation the idiot rural carrier delivered my neighbor’s priority package to my house, and the SPAR I was supposed to get today didn’t show up. No amount of complaining makes a damn bit of difference because management just doesn’t give a rat’s ass. Neither do the carriers who are delivering my mail. Postal management and spokespersons are liars. These people rose up from the scum of the craft – not all, but most were blatant snitches, relatives and ass kissers who were lousy workers but knew and blew the right people. Really good reliable workers don’t get to manage much, or if they are supervisors who work well with their employees and get things done, they don’t advance either because SOMEBODY has to do some actual work. I’m positive it’s the same no matter where you work. I’ve heard terrible stories about Wal-Mart supervisors and managers, several factories, etc. It just seems like it takes a special kind of jerk to get the attention of the bigger jerks in higher places.
