Minnesota Postal Employee sentenced for mail theft

Minnesota Postal Employee sentenced for mail theftAshley Marie Bothum, a postal support employee (PSE) formerly of Karlstad, Minn., was sentenced in United States District Court at Fergus Falls, Minn., on Tuesday, March 15 for mail theft.

Bothum was employed by the US Postal Service from December 2014 to July 2015, and worked at various locations including Karlstad, Newfolden, Lake Bronson, and Hallock.

The theft took place around April of 2015. The Postal Service began an investigation after the Newfolden Post Office contacted them to report Bothum had stolen a package.

According to court documents, Bothum was charged with stealing a variety of items including gift cards, a package from The Children’s Place and a package from American Eagle Outfitters.

Bothum pled guilty to one count of Theft of Mail Matter by a Postal Employee. She was sentenced to 18 months probation. She was also sentenced to pay $100.
