Tyson Barnette, 26, was shot and killed on Saturday evening while delivering the mail on his regular route in Cheverly, MD, a suburb of Washington, DC. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the letter carrier and his family during this very difficult time. We are all deeply saddened,” NALC President Fredric V. Rolando said. “The nation’s letter carriers deliver the mail in every community throughout the country. This tragic incident highlights the need in all operational decisions about how and when mail is delivered to give priority consideration to the safety of these dedicated public servants.” The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the killing
Nice try JLS. Your argument has so many holes, it matches your head.
Fed Ex and UPS workers, work till 800pm or 900pm all the time…An innocent man gets killed by a thug and an outcry for safety….Do you all see how ridiculous that sounds..We all know the job when we signed up…And now for all you Union lovers, the Union doesn’t care about you all they want is there money each paycheck….And the Union supported Obama when Obama put 5 day delivery in his budget..Great Union…
The Union should fight for carriers “all carriers off the street by 4pm!!!!!!!!
9am leaving time. If the mail isn’t there by then it’s tomorrow’s mail..
Safety First? Apparently it’s just a slogan.
Could this statement be anymore impersonal and bland ?
DO SOMETHING NALC ! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR CARRIERS TO BE OUT THIS LATE, NIGHT AFTER NIGHT.
WE’RE PAYING YOUR SALARIES; STAND UP FOR US !
