New York Postmaster Relief pleads guilty to stealing nearly $20,000

lance armstrong9/14/16 – A Wayne County, NY postal employee has pleaded guilty to taking nearly $20,000 in stamp revenues, post office box rental payments, and money orders.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Jennifer Passeck stole the money while working as a relief postmaster in the Sodus Point post office between March 2013 to March 2015. Daily Messenger

A former employee of the U.S. Postal Service is accused of stealing from her post office in Wayne County.

According to the U.S. Attorney William Hochul’s Office , Jennifer Passeck was indicted by a federal grand jury last week on a two counts, embezzlement by a postal employee and theft of government funds. The charges carry a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

From March 2013 to March 2015, authorities allege that Passeck, while serving as the relief postmaster at the Sodus Point post office, stole “stamps, money orders and post office box rental payments totaling $19,504.”

Passeck is scheduled to be arraigned in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson at 9 a.m. Friday.
