INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -A baby boy in Independence is fighting for his life after nearly drowning in a baby pool that was less than a foot deep with water.
Just hours after the 11-month-old boy was rushed to the hospital late Saturday morning, an inflatable pool sat deflated next to his familys home at Midwest Mobile Home Community just off US 40 Highway at 47th Street.
Audrey Odell, a mail carrier, was filling the mailboxes at a neighboring subdivision.
I heard this woman screaming, Someone please help us. My baby,’ said Odell.
She followed the screams to the mobile home community. At the entrance a woman pointed her down the road. She drove to where she saw a mother in the middle of the street cradling her lifeless child.
The woman asked me if I knew CPR, said Odell.
