Oh, Bucky, you poor ill advised know-it-all. Apparently you don’t work for the USPS (Maybe our competitors?). Our problem is so complex not even our illustrious Congress wants to take on their responsibility of fixing it!! We just keep on losing money daily because of them. Just keep on delaying the fix!! Well, this country is flat broke anyway, so “what difference does it make” as Hilliary thinks. It makes a huge difference. That one day will come next year if we’re lucky!!
THEY WILL NEVER PASS THIS BILL,IN FACT THEY WON’T GET AROUND TO EVEN ON THE VOTE ON THE BILL.THEN THE YEAR WILL BE OVER AND THEY WILL HAVE TO START OVER,JUST KEEP KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD,CONGRESS IS A JOKE
Wow, buck.
With all that impressive business knowledge here you sit spilling it for free on a messag board visited by maybe ten people a day for maybe three days? I guess the usps should listen to you!
Management primary concern is preserving managements position without any regard of tactics employed to do so. Craft employees are directed and expected to do whatever is demanded by their supervisor regardless of any personal needs, safety, or time needed to complete task. Many present line supervisors were appointed to position by knowing or impressing a temporary OIC or someone in bully power group of Postmasters or district power positions per MPOOs or HR contacts. Amazing the reduction in salary these people take as it less than craft pay and hours increase. Many lack job knowledge to make justified decisions needed to manage area of responsibility.
Carrier operations in many offices lack carrier personnel to cover route as well as deal with unscheduled absences, scheduled leave as well as delayed leaving office due to later reporting time and receipt of mail from plant.
Many of these appointed supervisors lack skills in handling daily issues even from knowing how to evaluate need for extra street time as defined by carrier on 3996.
Management techniques other than bullyboy each be employed
in evaluating workload per volume, percentage of deliveries covered and as well as other duties not included in adjusted street time. Do not endorse country club management style but would help all in supervisors
having acquired knowledge other than being directed by a micro manager whose sole existence depends on numbers by whatever means. OT V time nighttime is $$$ but need a break other than Sunday.
If they charged a REASONABLE rate on junk mail instead of SUBSIDIZING these greedy corporations due to their lobbying power, the USPS would be FLUSH with money.
It’s that simple folks, all this other crapola amounts to blaming the workers as usual and financing everything on their backs in addition to letting them do all the work while the HYPOCRITES kick back at their desks earning their fat salaries doing absolutely nothing. The facility I work in is in a HORRIFYING state of disrepair and even the restrooms are so decrepit and depressing, I am truly ashamed to work there. It is PATHETIC.
USPS is an antiquated practice that is a fossilized dinosaur that reflects history when united states was in an embryotic stage of development. The need for a letter carrier to place written communication in a mail box is history. Modern technology has evolved instant electronic messaging. USPS needs to get with advanced time and eliminate wasted cost providing so called communication needs for Americans. Junk mail is a waste and majority trashed immediately. Government agencies have moved from fossilized postal service of delivering social security and other federal agency checks to a physical street delivery point but now have forced direct deposit on check recipients. This should reflect to USPS that other means exist to transfer business that was at one time dependent on USPS but technical advances in communication has eliminated the primitive physical COSTLY means used by USPS. USPS means to create revenue to cover cost is in vain as once needed services no longer exist.
Marketing efforts to create revenue must be directed to what is in demand and cost effective operations employed.
Delivering junk mail should be curtailed to 3-4 days week.
Alignment with Amazon in parcel delivery should in time generate new revenue. Consumer demand for this service will continue to increase as online shopping market is rapidly increasing. USPS should revamp business model comparable to FED X and UPS as Americans regard these 2 as primary choices in parcel delivery. USPS must eliminate wasted services no longer needed or in demand by mailing public. Customer service at an UPS store is far ahead of service in a postal lobby as personnel are hired and trained to promote UPS AT ITS BEST.
