The owner of a DeSoto physical rehabilitation clinic is in hot water with federal authorities for allegedly billing the government millions of dollars in fraudulent claims.
Records show Larry Washington reported treating injured postal and Veterans Affairs employees on Christmas Day and at other suspicious times. His unusually high number of billings also sought payment for services he claimed to have provided while he was hospitalized and when he was traveling out of state, according to court documents.
Federal agents raided his business, Mind Spa, in September and seized numerous documents, including patient files and a list with the contact information of numerous Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center employees.
Washington, 62, a licensed counselor, has not been charged with a crime. But the search warrant said he is being investigated for health care fraud. Mind Spa, which also is known as Solutions Health & Rehabilitation, provides pain management and counseling to injured federal workers.
The business’ phone has been disconnected and its two DeSoto offices have been shuttered. On the front door of one office was a note from the building management company saying Washington had abandoned the premises and owes rent. Its main building has been completely emptied and is for lease.
Washington billed the government more than $8 million for treating postal workers from 2008 to September 2014, according to court records.
