Two plead guilty in New York Post Office robbery

KINGSTON >> Two of the four people charged in a December robbery of the Rifton Post Office have pleaded guilty in Ulster County Court, according to the county District Attorney’s Office.

Gary A. Salmon Jr., 22, of Newburgh, and Shareef J. Goddard, 31, of Hyde Park, pleaded guilty Thursday before Judge Donald A. Williams to robbery aided by another, a felony. Salmon is scheduled for sentencing June 16, Goddard on June 21.

Four people were accused of robbing the post office by jumping over the facility’s counter on Dec. 15 and stealing cash and money orders after a clerk opened a drawer for a transaction,.

In addition to Salmon and Goddard, Damari E. Edwards, 25, of Newburgh, and Sharmaine M. Chambers, age not provided, of Hyde Park, were arrested within an hour of the 12:52 p.m. heist and charged with felony robbery. Their cases are pending, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
