Our station has one of these postmasters as a 204-b who will either have their office gone or be forced to retire if she can’t find another position by October. She has been at it for a month and she still has NO clue how to do her job. I am talking about the simple things a 204-b should know after a month. She does not know the routes, the contract, nor know how to communicate effectively. She told me she is doing this so she would not forced to retire after 16 years with postal service and at the same time told me we should not have NALC contract. Hmmm I bet she really wished she had a contract with the post office to keep her job.
One thing wrong in above last paragraph! I believe the PMs not duo riffed but postplan riffed do not have to take the demotion as it is not considered an equivalent job offer (full time to part time and well below 2 pay grades). They can instead, if qualified, receive a DSR or a severance pay. I also do not think they can be forced back to the craft!
