Video: Frustrated for years by mail carrier, woman posts video to Facebook and gets results

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Northland woman says she was sick of trying to explain to people what she went through every day with her mailman, so she decided to record it.

We’ve seen the videos, people who are supposed to be making special deliveries tossing precious cargo, or even urinating on the driveway. Susan Howard Perry said she saw something similar all the time from her window – with her mailman. Knowing she had an expensive book on its way, she decided to record the drop off.

“I thought – I’m gonna see what he does with this book – and sure enough, that’s how the video happened,” she explained.

  1. what nobody knows is that carriers don’t get extra delivery time to deliver all the extra parcels that have been added to the routes every day. They are still expected to deliver 50 extra parcels each day in the same amount of time. the Boss and dois doesn’t allow for more time. If you want to fix the problem, tell the lazy union at National and the usps to negotiate something that includes delivery time of all the parcels. Nobody complains when UPS is working til after 9pm, and UPS only complains if the parcels are not delivered, not about the amount of time it takes. For Me, I say take your parcels back and I will be happy to deliver my route properly and on time based on a proper inspection performed 3 – 4 years ago BEFORE all the added parcels. Or else re-inspect my rte and cut it to allow for going up 50 driveways, dismounting the vehicle and delivering all parcels appropriately.

  2. Whenever I get a package my mailman brings the package, and all my mail, to the back door. He’s a professional. This guy was just one of many lazy slugs.

  3. they are out to screw u and your job get rid of high priced job to be replaced with a part time worker and no bennys their lucky I even so up

  4. That’s it kralph, stick up for the lazy employee , another lack of accountability.
Here’s an idea, get your lazy ass out of the truck
And bring the package to the house.

  5. If I was still carrying the mail I probably would have done the same thing. What is the whole story? Is her box locked so only standard sized envelopes can be slipped in? This very expensive book the lady was talking about was in an envelope with the plastic bubbles which protects the contents very well and didn’t hurt the book when hitting the ground, but on film it looks like a careless & barbaric act. He probably see her come out to her mailbox through is rearview mirror once he is a few houses down. And of course, lets not forget the unreasonable time constraints carriers are still dealing with every work day with morons in management. The short little video does not reveal the whole story!

  6. for boot. perfect carrier huh. I was both a carrier and supervisor. there are lazy supervisors and lazy carriers. probably 10% give or take. the lazy supervisors are the ones that don’t like to deal with lazy carriers or carriers with an attitude towards customers like this. lots of customers own dogs. some of those customers are careless with their pets when it comes to putting their dog in the house during delivery hours. your math for how long it took you doesn’t add up. you have deceived yourself for so long you are one of a group of employees I call the hero’s. you believe you are the best of the best and everyone else needs help. supervisors are out to get you. I wish we could have you on camera for all those break and lunch extensions you took over the years. no? not you? tell it to God. he’s recording your answers for another time when we all have to face the “truth”.

  7. I’ve been a city carrier for 25 years. Stop your whining! Box is not big enough. Whahh! Customer has a dog (which is kept inside). Whahh! Management pushes me for time. Whahh! Just provide good service. Ever think of that? My dad – who grew up during the great depression and has had a lot tougher life than I will ever have – taught me that if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.

  8. I worked for the post office for 30 years and am finally retired and I can tell you that management pushes and pushes and never stops pushing to hurry up. They pay lip service to safety and quality service but that is all it is. A carrier like this one will be promoted, given rewards and allowed to get away with these type of things unless people call in and complain. Management will accept and allow these timesaving actions until they just have to do something then go right back to push, push, push. That carrier saved 1,2, 5 minutes by not getting out and bringing it to the door and attempting it. That doesnt sound like much but as the post office gets more and more parcels that time starts adding up. 5 years ago I got one parcel and some 3-4 small parcels a day, right before I retired I was getting 10 parcels and 20-30 small parcels so if I threw it by the box I saved 50 minutes minimum. Its as simple as that, multiply that 50 minutes or more by 200,00 + carriers and the time adds up. And I had to fight them for the time to do the job right for 30 years.

  9. Typical carrier not doing their job. On a count day the bum would walk to the door and ring the bell. If no one there surely write an attempt slip. Like most, too lazy to do what they are paid to do.

  10. hey mrod our jobs are hard I carry mail in the inner city, carriers in my unit have had their vehical windows shot out rob, carjacked, dog bites, hell yea our jobs are hard you must have a gravy route, but the bottom line this carrier is an asshole, but with that dog I would just leave a notice.

  11. does the same thing happen with the neighbors mail? if so then the carrier is an idiot, and if not then there has probably been some issues with the customer. need to hear the carrier side as well

  12. If u see the Rottweiler in the foreground , chances are the letter carrier has had a run in with the untrained dog and more than likely told the lady and her female companion that there was an issue with the canine .. Anyway again some people are looking for anything to get 2 minutes of fame !!
Another issue we are being deceived by our postal brain trust is the percentages of our CCA s … The number is over 20 % and with the Sunday delivery hirees this will push number past 25% … Called national business agent and was told that national monitors the percentage and will keep numbers under set percentage !! Really ?? Why are they hiding this info ? Any comments

  13. Just another piece of …. Shut the entire Postal Service down and privatize, dump the unions so slugs like this can actually be fired

  14. get this bonehead on a walking route and see how the old attitude might change..ya work for the customers treatem right!

  15. Pretty simple solution. As stated above, get a large mailbox-problem solved. This is right up there with the mail slot people complaining about mail being bent to get it through the chute and/or not pushed all the way through to the bottom. Get a REAL MAILBOX people.

  16. Maybe the mailman had a run in with the dog! Sometimes customers don’t tell the whole story. She looks like a babe but maybe she was sexually flirting too, who knows?

  17. I see a promotion to postmaster for this carrier, the way I look at it, he could of throw in 50 feet, instead he just threw it on the ground, maybe a bonus is in line for him also
