Residents in Bixby reported not receiving their mail until 10 p.m. or later and they are worried it could only get worse with the holiday season here.
Barbara Delozier said the not only is her mail frequently delivered late, but sometimes its not delivered to the right home at all.
Quite often, about every other week, my mail would be delivered in a town south of here called Leonard, Delozier said.

Give management the opportunity to …. up and they will. Bixby for those who don’t know, is a suburb of Tulsa. The customers need to know exactly what’s going on, not just in general terms like “bad managing”, which most people know.
1. Management waits until the last dog is hung before they’ll approve new help for offices requesting it. The local office, Bixby, for example, does not have unilateral authority to hire, or really do much of anything. Tulsa is a district office, I still think, if not OKC and they make the decisions for everything from approving overtime in offices many many miles away, discipline, even though the local supervisor nominally is supposed to do it, and practically every aspect of what goes on. They depend on stupid computer programs to “predict” what is needed, and because they are greedy and bonus obsessed, they’ll cut corners everywhere, customer service be damned.
2. Being in their nice cozy little offices tucked away in big processing centers or private office space, they are insulated from the real postal world. They impose impossible demands of the management in the local branches and offices, and create very stressful conditions for everybody as some management and supervisors pass the harassment down to the craft.
3. Bixby is a small town, and I doubt if there is more than one city route if they even have that, but rurals have the same understaffing problems, and it’s hard to deliver accurately after dark.
4. CCA’s are bullied and pushed to run as fast as possible, carry usually one route and half of another on any given day, go out and help routes whose carriers are running behind, collect mail from the blue boxes and businesses. Their training is abysmal, management does not emphasize and in fact discourages accuracy for speed. Because they can be fired at the end of each term, which lasts a year, and can’t be career employees until they get a route of their own, they are a bundle of nerves just trying to keep up until they can get a permanent route. Service of course is terrible because they’re not allowed to look at change of address cards, or take the time to review any records. Long time city carriers like yours anonymously have been around long enough to not let management get to us, and we (most of us, anyway) try to get the right mail to the right house. We might be old and cranky, but we have worked ourselves to the quick and after 31+ years, I’ve had two hernia surgeries, shoulder surgery, and a couple of blown discs in my back to show for my efforts. It’s a typical story and at days’ end, it’s all I can do to stand up straight after the arthritis and sore muscles have had their fun for the day.
5. Management at the higher levels is totally indifferent to customer service. They have lied to Congress, local city officials worried about job losses and delayed service, the employees and the media over and over. They must be investigated for fraud, malfeasance and just plain crooked dealing. Only laws will make them behave.
USPS upper management trash will continue 2 close/downsize mail-processing facilities-no matter what? Even,if the U.S.Congress miraclously passed favorable postal legislation;and Bernie Sanders and Dimondstein, walked on water. And later, descended from the sky.
If you read branch items in the postal record, many thank the old timers who stood up back in 1970 and said no to the letter carriers union president, who was only interested in the status quo and saving his job and struck, because of the unfair pay in nyc and other areas. Our National president is again doing the same. Not interested in helping out high cost of living area’s with getting a living wage, as the federal gov’t continues to add more area’s that get area cola’s. The UAW just rec’d huge raises and a 4 year contract and contract ratification bonus checks. FedEx and ups make 30% more than us, and all they have to do is deliver parcels. We must remember forwards holds markup accountables fss dps cased mail extra bundles……….. How our go along union does nothing to raise the level of poverty many carriers endure in high cost of living areas is beyond me. Our HBP costs go up faster and more $ wise total then our salaries. And before the inexpensive areas chime in, the mail must be delivered everywhere, so just because you say MOVE, only means someone else must live in poverty somewhere delivering the mail. When will the letter carrier union execs get out of bed with elephant plaza and raise all letter carriers out of poverty with a decent contract and area wage.????????? – See more at: http://www.postal-reporter.com/blog/usps-execs-get-pay-increase-bonuses-and-pmg-dpmg-get-new-perk-for-fy2015/#comment-86703
Now you want to hire people that never, never, ever is eligible for a Postal Career. Many of the CCA’s aren’t qualified for appointment. The only thing is low wages and long hours and treated like crap.
We deliver for you, just not where or when it’s supposed to be delivered. We need to close more P&DCs and hire more CCAs.
Yeah, we’re the problem. Not FTR who never show up.
CCA thats bad inept management. They have their cronies and the cronies do just this, nothing. Once I thought the crony was doing another job. While swiping my card end of day oh crony came in to go home, thinking I was gone. I bid off that posting in two weeks.
