Video: Postal Worker who admitted to stealing gift cards, cash is still on the job

(MyFoxBoston.com) — A [postal support employee-pse] worker at the Clinton Post Office was arrested Monday and charged with stealing mail.

Duane Anderson, Jr. of Lancaster, a 22-year-old part time desk clerk, was arrested at the post office after investigators set up a sting. This all started when people in Clinton realized their mail was missing or ending up at the wrong address and most of what was missing were cards with gift cards and cash inside.

Police and the US Post Office suspected Anderson, so they set up sting and on Monday presented him with an envelope with money inside. But the envelope also had an alarm set to go off if it was opened.

  1. The facts that a part-time USPS employee wasn’t fired, immediately after admitting 2 the police that he stole, both gift-cards and cash;makes me suspect that other employees r involved. The’re likely higher ups,or at least regular USPS workers’ with many years of seniority?

  2. regardless of race or sex, there is no room in the post office for thieves. it use to be if you got caught stealing automatic termination. save the grievance procedures, terminate this employee.

  3. The USPS was hell bent on slimming down so now they are getting people that don’t give a damn about the mail. I also read that bonuses are going out to managers. I guess this is the pay difference making itself up in the form of bonuses.

  4. I’m shocked….NOT! I’m sure they don’t want to stereo type him cause he would sue the PO, and WIN!

  5. we have a custodian in springfield mass that was charged with shoplifting and running away from police. Plus he had an outstanding warrant for something when they arrested him. They aren’t doing anything with him regarding this arrest at the post office. I guess we have to watch our valuables with this person around. By the way the incident occured at the Chicopee Walmart.
